Jeweler Refunds About $55,000 Over Football Pledge

Gardendale jeweler Jeff Dennis had promised to refund purchases at his Gardendale jewelry store if either team failed to score in the Iron Bowl. Alabama shut out Auburn in a 49-0 win.

An Alabama jeweler says he's refunded more than $50,000 -- and received many smiles -- since Alabama shut out archrival Auburn in their annual football game last weekend.


Jeff Dennis had promised to refund purchases at his Gardendale jewelry store if either team failed to score.

No. 2 Alabama's 49-0 victory over Auburn meant that Dennis owed thousands of dollars in refunds. Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/U4ootq) that he's already refunded about $55,000.

Ala Jeweler Refunding Purchases Over Shutout

An Alabama jeweler says he owes customers tens of thousands of dollars since Alabama shut out archrival Auburn in their annual football game last weekend.

Mayors of Auburn, Tuscaloosa Place Bets on Game

The mayors of Auburn and Tuscaloosa have something riding on the outcome of this year's Iron Bowl.

Auburn Mayor Bill Ham and Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox made a friendly wager on Saturday's game between Auburn University and the University of Alabama.

Ham will make a contribution to the city of Tuscaloosa's tornado recovery fund if the No. 2 Crimson Tide beats unranked Auburn.

Maddox will make a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lee County if the Tigers pull off an upset and defeat Alabama.
