Honda STEAM Connections Tour Visits UA

The Honda STEAM Connections Tour raced to the University of Alabama today to expose local students to science and engineering. 

The Honda STEAM Connections Tour and the UA College of Engineering invited over three hundred middle and high school students tour engineering facilities and hear from engineering students and professionals.

The event is meant to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering. Many of these fields support motorsports.

       

The Alabama Department of Public Health will be holding a town hall meeting tonight to discuss an outbreak of Tuberculosis.  Twenty-six people have been diagnosed in the Marion, Centreville and Tuscaloosa areas in the past two years.  Pam Barrett is the Director for the Division of TB control with the Alabama Department of Public Health. She says keeping track of those infected has been a problem.

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley says he used his trip to Japan to strengthen existing relationships with Japanese companies.

Bentley told reporters Monday that his five-day trip focused mostly on relationship building, but also included some economic development and recruitment opportunities.

Bentley says he met with top executives from Honda and Toyota, both of which have operations in Alabama. He also met with executives at Hayashi Telempu, an automotive parts supplier.
