The Republican National Convention is underway in Cleveland Ohio and members of the Alabama GOP are set to cast their ballots.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump will be formally introduced as the Republican choice for president and will be joined by several key speakers. Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions spoke last night.

Alabama GOP Chairwoman Terry Lathan says that the state is expected to be represented by fifty delegates and hopes to show that conservative policy is needed back in the White House…

GOP Presidential hopeful Ben Carson will return to Alabama next week. The Republican contender will appear at the University of South Alabama Mitchell Center for a free rally next Thursday afternoon. There will be a fundraiser at a private residence afterward. Republican hopefuls Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Mike Huckabee have attended similar rallies in Alabama, as well as Democratic contender Hillary Rodham Clinton.  

     Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has selected Wisconsin Representative  Paul Ryan to be his running mate. The candidate made his announcement to supporters via a phone app, saying -- quote -- "Mitt's Choice for VP is Paul Ryan."

     The GOP ticket appeared together at 9 A.M. Eastern in Norfolk, Va. Romney and Ryan are kicking off a four-day bus tour that will take them to as many states.

     At 42, Ryan is a generation younger than the 65-year-old Romney.
