StoryCorps studio will be in Mobile February 9 - March 10.
Alabama Public Radio is excited to host the Airstream portable studio in Mobile, home of Mardi Gras, during Mardi Gras.
What is StoryCorps? Since 2005, StoryCorps has been dedicated to preserving and sharing stories. Their mission is to preserve and share humanity's stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world.
What to expect when you visit? StoryCorps provides an environment for you to share and record your story. It is designed for two people to share what is important to them. You can call 800.850.4406 to make an appointment at the booth. Your appointment will be for an hour.
The StoryCorps host will walk you through the process including recording your contact information, requesting you to permit airing of an edited version of the conversation, taking a picture to be included in the Library of Congress archive, and how the recording process works.You will have about 40 minutes to talk about your story. Your host will have suggested questions to keep the conversation moving and may ask you to include relevant facts like the name of your birth city if you reference it and do not mention it. You will leave with a CD copy of your conversation.
