Program Changes Coming to APR's Weekend Schedule October 2017
APR launching new weekend programs in October 2017.
APR regularly reviews its program schedule to ensure we’re providing the best public service to our community. This fall we’re excited about some new programming that will join our schedule.
New Program: IT'S BEEN A MINUTE — Saturdays at 10 a.m. (beginning Oct. 7)
As NPR ends its production of new episodes of The Best of Car Talk, we say good-bye to one of public radio’s legendary programs. That’s the bad news. The good news is the premiere of IT’S BEEN A MINUTE, hosted by NPR reporter Sam Sanders.
The program debuted as a podcast this summer and is now moving to on-air distribution. Every Saturday, Sanders and guest journalists will engage in conversation not just about what happened during the week, but how it felt. Each episode includes a deep dive into a topic as well as call outs to listeners to find out what’s happening in their community. The show concludes with a montage of listeners sharing the best thing that happened to them during the week.
New Program: THE MOTH RADIO HOUR – Sundays at 11 a.m. (beginning Oct. 8)
We are delighted that The Moth Hour will return to the APR schedule in October. The Moth features humorous, heartbreaking and true stories told live on stage... No script, no props, just a microphone, a spotlight and a room full of strangers.
Catherine Burns, one of the co-hosts of the program, is an Alabama native from Alexander City who's thrilled to have the program on-air in her home state.
Says You will no longer air on APR. The death of show creator and host Richard Sher resulted in a significant void in the series. It was a difficult decision, but we decided it was time to try something new.
New Program: REVEAL – Sundays at 2 p.m. (beginning Oct. 8)
We’ve heard the news, but we want to know what really happened. That’s what Reveal is all about: finding out what’s going on behind the scenes, hidden from public view. Hosted by Al Letson and produced by PRX and The Center for Investigative Reporting, Reveal is a Peabody Award-winning investigative journalism program. It presents original work from CIR's team along with various partners: stations, producers, web sites, journalism centers and reporters from around the world.
