Mobile, AL – University of South Alabama trustees have unanimously approved plans to pursue a pharmacy school. The trustees gave the green light to seek state and national approval for a program to train pharmacists. The implementation of that program would make it the only university in the state with a medical school and a pharmacy school. The trustees also approved a plan to raise charges for students. Costs for full-time, in-state undergraduates will go up by almost five percent, or $212 a year. The change will take effect this fall. USA president Gordon Moulton says the state will give the school a hefty increase in the budget year that starts October 1, so the school will not have to increase its tuition.
