Two School Buses Collide, Injuries on Scene

Springville, AL – Two buses carrying between 60 and 80 third graders collided Thursday evening in Saint Clair County. The accident happened on Interstate 59, near Springville. The children are students at Minor Community School in Edgewater. They were on their way back from a field trip to Chattanooga. Authorities say 24 people--mostly children--were injured. Some were treated at the scene, and about 16 others were transported to Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Police say the injuries were not serious and involved mainly bloody noses, broken fingers and whiplash.
