Taylor Hicks Set to Sing in Washington for Holiday

Alabama native and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks will be among those entertaining crowds in Washington, D.C. on Monday for Memorial Day.

   AL.com reports (http://bit.ly/13WqH7z ) that Hicks is scheduled to sing two songs, "Nineteen," from his 2009 album The Distance, and "Do I Make You Proud," which he sang in 2006 coronation on Idol.

   Mallory Hagan of Opelika, the reigning Miss America, also is scheduled to perform. Two youth groups from Alabama will participate in the 2013 National Memorial Day Parade: the Jefferson Davis High School Marching Band from Montgomery and the James Oliver Johnson High School Band from Huntsville.
