Superintendent Expected to Lead Auburn

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – State schools superintendent Ed Richardson is expected to be named interim president of Auburn University. Richardson has already told state school board members he will resign as superintendent. Richardson also has met at least twice with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on Auburn's behalf. William Walker resigned as Auburn's president Friday after several weeks of pressure. Jeff Emerson, a spokesperson for Governor Bob Riley, says the governor will be part of the search for a new president. Riley plans to attend tomorrow's board of trustees meeting in Auburn.
