Fort Morgan, AL – The state has won the first round in a court battle over the Governor's beach house. A Louisiana developer is trying to reclaim the house on the Fort Morgan peninsula. The home's been boarded up for six years. It's in need of repairs the state says it can't afford. A clause in the contract governing the land calls for it to return to its original owner if the property isn't used as a home for Alabama Governors. But Montgomery County Circuit Judge Tracy McCooey ruled Tuesday that the house is still used as a residence. Lamar Little of Baton Rouge is the current owner. He says he'll appeal the ruling.
