Shrimpers Await Dumping Decision

By Alabama Public Radio

Undated – Southern shrimpers have been waiting months on a decision that is expected Thursday. The U-S International Trade Commission will issue its final ruling on a shrimp dumping case. The commission will determine if an anti-dumping lawsuit against foreign shrimp imports should be allowed to continue. Shrimpers from across the south filed the suit, saying the imports were being sold at unfairly low prices. And, the shrimpers say that's driving them out of business. So far, U-S shrimpers have won every federal decision on the matter. The suit targeted imports from Brazil, China, Ecuador, India, Thailand and Vietnam.
