Sen. Shelby Applauds Tenet's Resignation

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby says he's not surprised by the resignation of C-I-A Director George Tenet. Tenet resigned Thursday for what he called personal reasons. Shelby calls the resignation long overdue, and he says there are better candidates for the director's post. Shelby has received mention as a potential candidate, but he says he's not interested in the position. During his time as Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Shelby disagreed with Tenet on a number of occasions and even called for his dismissal.
