Robertsdale Couple Going to Jail for Kidnapping

By Alabama Public Radio

Robertsdale, AL – Rumors often circulate in Northern Mexico about U-S- bands crossing the border to kidnap Mexican children...so one case with an Alabama angle made headlines in 2004 in that region. A judge has convicted a Robertsdale couple of abducting a girl while she was playing in her front yard in a Mexican suburb. Mexican reports say Michael and Kimberly Ray were each sentenced Monday to 27 years in prison. The Rays were accused of kidnapping seven-year-old Liliana Flores in the summer of 2004. They allegedly lured her to their van with cookies. A neighbor who saw the couple speed away flagged down police, who detained the couple.
