Grand Jury Looks at DOT Computers

Montgomery, AL – A federal grand jury investigating government corruption jumped into a new area Thursday. The grand jurors talked to present and former officials of the state Transportation Department about a computer contract with Quality Research and about the department's use of RainLine highway striping material. Paul Bowlin was called to the grand jury Thursday. Bowlin served as assistant director and as director of the Transportation Department during the Don Siegelman administration. Also called were Don Vaugh, who was the department's deputy director, Chief Engineer Ray Bass and Information Systems Manager Guin Butler. The grand jury investigation will resume Monday.
