Tuscaloosa, AL – The families of two former Fayette police department employees have filed a 600 million dollar lawsuit. Police officers Arnold Strickland and James Crump and dispatcher Leslie Mealer were killed June 7th, 2003 in a police department shooting. Family members of Strickland and Mealer are suing two entertainment companies and two retail stores connected to the video game series "Grand Theft Auto." The suit also names the 18-year-old who is charged with the shooting. The suit says the teenager played the game, in which players can kill police officers. An attorney representing the family says the company that markets the game has sold 40 million copies of the Grand Theft Auto series for gross revenues near two billion dollars.
