Edwards Will Come to Alabama

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – The Democratic Presidential ticket faces an uphill battle in Alabama. The state has voted Republican in every presidential campaign since 1980. And, President Bush has a ten-to-one fundraising edge over Senator John Kerry in the state. But that won't keep Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards from visiting Alabama. He's planning a trip here next week. Jim Wrye, field director for the Alabama Democratic Party, says party officials have not yet received details about the trip. Edwards is set to arrive in Birmingham Tuesday after attending an event in Florida. He will attend a campaign reception.
