Conviction Could Be Bad for Scrushy

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Former WorldCom executive Bernard Ebbers was convicted Tuesday on all charges stemming from an 11 billion dollar accounting scandal. An expert in corporate crime cases says that's bad news for former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy. He's accused of overstating HealthSouth's earnings by two-point-seven billion dollars. Paul Lapides of the Corporate Governance Center at Kennesaw State University says Ebbers had a better chance of exoneration than Scrushy.
