Black Film Festival in Montgomery

Fox Searchlight Pictures

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The 12th annual Black Film Festival is continuing in Montgomery. The movies scheduled for screenings Saturday at the Capri Theatre include the Oscar-winning "12 Years a Slave." Also on tap is "Sisters of Selma: Bearing Witness to Change," which is about a group of nuns who joined in civil rights protests in the city in 1965. The festival opened Friday in a theater at Alabama State University. The free festival is sponsored by Alabama State's National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture. The theme of this year's festival is "Celebrating the African-American Spirit."
