Washington, DC – Alabama's U-S Senators were among the lawmakers Wednesday who viewed photos depicting Iraqi prisoner abuse at the hands of American soldiers. In written statements, both senators expressed disbelief at what they saw. Senator Jeff Sessions says it was very painful to observe the photos. He says they show actions that violate the Geneva Conventions and American law. Senator Richard Shelby called the photographs horrific and despicable. He says he cannot fathom why anyone would order or participate in such activities. Shelby says he has faith that those who ordered and participated in the abuse will be brought to justice.
