Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama says he plans to run for a fourth term next year.
Sessions is beginning his 17th year of service in the Senate. The 66-year-old senator said Wednesday in Montgomery he's still enjoying serving in Washington and plans to run again in 2014.
Sessions was the only Republican in Alabama's Senate or House delegation to vote for the fiscal cliff legislation at the start of the year. Sessions said that by the time the Senate voted at 1 a.m. on New Year's Day, taxes had gone up on everyone and the Senate had to act to bring them down. He says it's time for the Senate to get serious about the next step, which is cutting federal spending. He labeled the current federal spending unsustainable.
