Riley Names New Cabinet Members

Montgomery, AL – Kenneth Wallis, an aide to former Governor
George Wallace, has been named legal adviser to Governor Bob Riley.

Riley named Wallis as Troy King's replacement Monday. King stepped down earlier this month as legal adviser after
Riley appointed him attorney general.

The 62-year-old Wallis has been serving in the Riley administration as the director of legislative affairs.

Former Boeing Company executive, 49-year-old Robin Stone, will replace Wallis as legislative affairs director.

Exxon Mobil Verdict Reduced

Montgomery, AL – A Montgomery judge has cut the record 11-point-9 (b) billion dollar verdict against Exxon Mobil to 3-point-6 billion dollars.

The state government won the verdict in
a natural gas royalty dispute with the oil company. Circuit Judge Tracy McCooey says Exxon Mobil intentionally and deliberately
committed fraud against the state, but the verdict must be cut to bring it in line with U-S Supreme Court guidelines.

Companies Win Permission to Provide Drug Benefits

Montgomery, AL – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama and United Healthcare of Alabama have been approved to provide new prescription drug benefits for state residents on Medicare. State officials say Medicare recipients who do not have Medicaid outpatient drug coverage will be able to enroll for the prescription drug program in early May. The program will begin offering ten to 25 percent discounts on prescription drugs in June. The federal government is paying for the program, and national drug card sponsors also will offer discounts.
