The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has for the first time issued registrations to medical marijuana dispensaries, a bureaucratic maneuver under President Donald Trump's rescheduling of the drug that could pave the way for the businesses to receive tax benefits long denied the industry. There are three reportedly in operation in Alabama, with two more scheduled to open in 2027.

  • The mid-term elections are next week. Here in Alabama, voters will choose a new Governor and decide races for the U.S. House, among others. Higher prices for groceries and gasoline appear to be a major issue with the public. Another is what to do about data centers. These big projects are supported by those who see them as a money maker or a way to harness artificial intelligence. There are those who hold a less positive view. Let’s take a look at the issue and how the two men running for Governor of Alabama are talking about it…

  • Happy Midterm Season to Alabama and beyond! Wouldn't it be nice if we could all cast our ballots and then all sides could group-hug at the end? That's not reality, though, as we all know-- A recent Gallup Poll found that 80% of Americans feel the nation is deeply divided on values and morals, which are often expressed through political speech and activism. It's one thing to disagree with someone on Facebook that you haven't talked to in years, but what do we do when that disagreement is sitting next to us while we watch political ads in our homes? How do we interact with parents, siblings, friends or maybe even life partners that we disagree with politically? We've likely all been there, with at least a few people we care about deeply, and it's one of the hardest parts of election seasons such as these.

  • The Federal Trade Commission has sued the bargain chain Dollar General for what it characterized as “long-running deceptive pricing practices” by charging customers more once they reach the register than the prices that are displayed on shelves and in advertisements. Alabama is among twenty states to join the federal legal action.
