Veteran's Day

The City of Birmingham plans to continue a tradition that’s been around since 1947. Organizers say The Magic City held the very first Veterans Day parade seven years before the day became a national holiday in 1954.

Veterans Day is always observed officially on Nov. 11 each year to honor of the men and women who have served our country. Several military-themed events at The University of Alabama are planned for the commemoration. Alabama Athletics has partnered with the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs to put on "Bama Salute" Military Appreciation Week.

Montgomery is inviting the community to join in honoring the nation's heroes at the city's annual Veterans Day Celebration. This year's event promises a day filled with patriotism, gratitude and valuable resources for veterans and their families.

The Auburn community is invited to honor those who have served our country at the 2024 Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Auburn Veterans Memorial Monument.

The City of Huntsville is commemorating Nov. 1-11 as Veterans Week to give special recognition to veterans and military families for their past and present sacrifices to keep America safe. During this time, Huntsvillians are encouraged to pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces.
