Stillman College is inviting the Tuscaloosa community to a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships. The school's third annual National Night Out is set to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 4-8 p.m. Admission is free.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is launching a new smartphone app to help better connect with the Druid City community. The app is free to download and is available on both Apple and Android devices.

The University of Alabama and city of Tuscaloosa continue to make an area along University Boulevard just west of the campus, known as the Strip, a place the community and Alabama fans can enjoy. UA says safety enhancements are seeing results since UAPD and Tuscaloosa police joined together to open a precinct at 1209 University Blvd in February 2023.

Services for Huntsville Police Officer Garrett Crumby will take place today. The officer's obituary says the funeral service will be at Mayfair Church of Christ on Monday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park later.

Officials in Alabama say a Huntsville police officer who previously worked on the Tuscaloosa force has died after being shot and another officer was critically wounded. The two officers were shot Tuesday evening at an apartment complex as they were responding to a 911 call where a woman said she had been shot.
