The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has announced a contract with the Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Program Sewer Board (LCUWP) that will move forward with the installation of septic systems for Lowndes County residents.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the expansion of its successful Closing America’s Wastewater Access Gap Community Initiative to 150 additional communities as part of President Biden’s Investing America agenda. This includes Greene County and Lowndes County in Alabama.

The Alabama Department of Public Health created a legal agreement with the U.S. to take immediate action on raw sewage exposure issues in Lowndes County last month. ADPH recently announced the details of its moratorium in a press release.
