Lilly Ledbetter, Alabama native and icon of the fight for equal pay, dies at 86

Lilly Ledbetter, a former Alabama factory manager whose lawsuit against her employer made her an icon of the equal pay movement and led to landmark wage discrimination legislation, has died at 86. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act strengthened the rights of workers to sue for pay discrimination.

Congressional hopefuls Figures, Dobson clash in Montgonery debate

Congressional hopefuls Shomari Figures and Caroleene Dobson clashed in a Wednesday debate. The two candidates running for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District met in a candidate forum in Montgomery.

Lawson State Community College in Birmingham is the lead college in a consortium of Southern colleges that will share $10 million in funding from the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training program.
