Hurricane Helene

  • The nation is two weeks away from the General election and voters are still dealing with disinformation. The Association Press reports GOP contender Donald Trump is still repeating the debunked claim that FEMA dollars in hurricane ravaged North Carolina are being spent on illegal migrants. Cynthia Peacock studies political communication at the University of Alabama. She says one key to avoiding disinformation is personal responsibility.
  • The devastation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton is still being tallied as a swath of Florida comes to terms with damage from the unusual dual strike of storms in just two weeks. Alabama Department of Transportation workers have deployed to Florida to aid with cleanup and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Additionally, Alabama is sending a public health support team to North Carolina to assist in their Helene recovery.
  • The loss of human life is great in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene - and lost of animal life in the area was also staggering!
