Good news for Alabama and bad news for Georgia and Miami prompted a reshuffling of the AP Top 25. Georgia lost to Ole Miss, prompting the Bulldogs to drop to Alabama’s previous spot at eleven. This is the first time Georgia has been out of the top ten since late in the 2020 season.

Oregon has become the fourth team this season to hold the number one ranking in The Associated Press college football poll. The Ducks moved into the top spot for the first time in twelve years after Texas lost at me to Georgia. Vanderbilt at number twenty five makes its first appearance since the 2013 season and defending national champion Michigan is out after a second straight loss. The news is worse for Alabama.

Texas returned to No. 1 after a week’s absence. The biggest questions were how far to drop Alabama for losing to Vanderbilt and what to do with Georgia.

The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs host the struggling Auburn Tigers in the Deep South’s oldest rivalry on Saturday. The Tigers have lost seven in a row to UGA. The matchup comes after Alabama held off the Bulldogs in a 41-34 thriller, snapping their streak of 42 consecutive victories during the regular season.

University of Alabama student democrats and Trump supporters made their presence known during Saturday’s Alabama versus Georgia game. The Crimson Tide led by 28-0 at one point, defeating the Dogs finally 41-34. Going into the game, APR spoke with both sides who said politics is better left off the playing field.

Not everyone is happy Republican Presidential contender Donald Trump will be attending today’s college football game between Alabama and Georgia. The University of Alabama group called UA Student Democrats is holding an anti-Trump tailgate to voice their opposition to the former President’s presence on campus, and his candidacy in general.

Politics and college football are likely to collide tomorrow in Tuscaloosa. The Alabama Crimson Tide play the Georgia Bulldogs in a rematch of last year’s SEC Championship game. Alabama beat the Dogs twenty seven to twenty four. That ended Georgia’s chances at a national championship three-peat. Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa also has the added complication that Donald Trump plans to be in the stands.

No. 2 Georgia visits No. 4 Alabama on Saturday night for a Southeastern Conference opener and only their third regular-season meeting since 2015. Of the last eight matchups, four have come in SEC title games and two in College Football Playoff championship games.
