Final preparations are underway for a Birmingham festival that highlights filmmakers from around the country. The Birmingham Sidewalk Film Festival is celebrating its 26th year next month in the historic theater district.

Actor Matthew McConaughey is spending the summer in Birmingham for his new movie. Filming for “The Rivals of Amziah King” kicked off in the Magic City this month. The Oscar-winning actor is the lead role in the crime thriller put on by the independent studio Black Bear Pictures.
