With a new school year beginning, the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is reminding drivers about its zero-tolerance policy for speeding in a school zone. HPD patrol officers and safety patrol aides will patrol school zones throughout the school year to ensure drivers are obeying speed limits.

The second annual Ride and Seek: A Bike Safety Adventure will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, for children K-8 at Chewacla State Park. Registration will open Monday, Aug. 5, and walk-ups will be permitted the day of the event. Attendees are encouraged to register by Sept. 18 to be guaranteed a T-shirt.

The Huntsville Metropolitan Planning Organization wants to hear from bicyclists throughout Huntsville and Madison County on how riding can be made safer and more enjoyable. Bikers are asked to share feedback through an online survey and interactive map.
