The news was much worse for the Florida State Seminole. That team fell out of The Associated Press ranking completely after losing to Boston College.

Kalen DeBoer led his team through the pre-game walk of champions, past the statue of Nick Saban and later onto Nick Saban Field. The pre-game hype video included Saban's famous comment in 2010 celebrating the first of his six national titles with the Crimson Tide: "I just want everybody here to know: This is not the end, this is the beginning."

The Kansas City Chiefs released defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs on after two recent arrests in Alabama. The 27-year-old Buggs, who signed a $1,292,500 contract with Kansas City for the upcoming season, turned himself in May 30 after he was charged with two misdemeanor counts of second-degree animal cruelty.

Former Alabama football star Isaiah Buggs, now a tackle with the Washington Commanders was arrested for the second time in a month on a charge of domestic violence/burglary in Alabama and released on a $5,000 bond Sunday, according to records from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Fans of University of Alabama football are mourning the loss of former star player Hootie Ingram. It’s what he did off the field that may be his greatest accomplishment. As Athletic Director, Ingram hired coach Gene Stallings who led Alabama to the 1992 national championship.

The historic run on offensive players, especially quarterbacks, in the first round of the NFL draft pushed plenty of talented defenders down the board. It also pushed some first-round worthy defensive players into Round 2 on Friday. Those include Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean, Texas A&M inside linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. The former Crimson Tide player was picked by the New Orleans Saints.

Lou Groza Award winner Graham Nicholson plans to transfer to Alabama. The former Miami of Ohio All-American, who won the award as the nation’s top placekicker last season, announced his commitment on social media.
