Greater Birmingham Humane Society has identified confirmed cases of the Canine Pneumovirus in dogs at the Jefferson County Animal Care and Control facility in Woodlawn. Because of this, animal control intake and canine adotoptions are being suspended.

Animal shelters across Alabama are working to find pets in the state forever homes this holiday season. Six of these organizations are participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Holiday Hope: Empty the Shelters” event. The national animal welfare organization is dedicated to ending pet homelessness.

July is coming to a close, and so is this month’s round of free microchipping at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The animal adoption and rescue service has held popup microchip clinics in Central Alabama every Saturday since July 1.
