Alabama is back in the win column after defeating Kentucky at home ninety six to eighty three. Star guard Mark Sears scored thirty as the number four ranked Crimson Tide bounced back from losses to Auburn and Missouri. Chris Youngblood added fourteen points in the win of the number seventeen ranked Wildcats.

It wasn’t a good day for Alabama’s mens basketball team as number one ranked Auburn edged the number two Crimson Tide. Fans of both teams are already eyeing a rematch scheduled for early March. The Tigers beat the Tide ninety four to eighty five in this highly anticipated match up of top teams in the nation.

Applications are open in the city of Auburn for the 2025 Class of the Auburn Citizens’ Academy. The seven-month program is billed as giving residents a closer look at how their local government operates.

Artists are being invited to showcase their talent in Auburn. Registration is currently open for the Inaugural Juried Ceramics Exhibition at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. Applications close on Feb. 14.

The 2025 Winter PaperWorks exhibition is now open in Auburn and will run until Feb. 21 at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. The showcase features two-dimensional and three-dimensional works created by student, professional and amateur artists.

The city of New Orleans tried to protect its famed French Quarter from a terrorist attack years before a U.S. Army veteran rammed a truck into crowds of New Year's revelers on Bourbon Street, killing 14 people. The list of fatalities included incoming University of Alabama engineering Badawi and Auburn graduate Andrew Dauphin

Registration is open for an annual fundraising effort that benefits the Lee County Special Olympics and its athletes. The 13th Annual Auburn Polar Plunge is set for Saturday, Jan. 18. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the City of Auburn’s Samford Pool.

The Auburn Community Orchestra is set to provide an evening of musical cheer. The annual holiday concert will take place at the Auburn United Methodist Church on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., featuring traditional and several sing-along tunes.

The Auburn Public Library is now offering its new Favorite Authors Club, a service designed to make it easier for patrons to stay up to date with 15 popular authors’ latest releases. Library patrons who join will automatically be placed on hold for new books as soon as they become available.

Federal wildlife officials are reviewing the removal of a bald eagle nest at the site of a planned subdivision in Auburn, following an outcry from local residents. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued a permit to the subdivision's developer to remove the nest.
