Alabama State Games

The Alabama State Games were founded in 1982 at the request of the United States Olympic Committee. Each year the games host thousands of athletes through a collection of 20+ sports. Over $364,000 scholarships have been given out over the years at the opening ceremony and this year $50,000 will be awarded.

Athletes of all ages and abilities can register for the 41st Alabama State Games, happening June 7-9 across Birmingham and Jefferson County. The Alabama Sports Festival (ASF) Foundation is a non-profit that hosts the State Games.

The 40th annual Alabama State Games begin Friday and end Sunday. The Olympic-style, multi-sport event is the largest in the state.

Registration is now open for the 2023 Alabama State Games. Contests will be held in Birmingham and surrounding counties. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, June 9, starting at 3 p.m. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Bartow Arena.
