Alabama grants

Alabama is getting a financial boost when it comes to supporting science, technology, engineering and math projects in the classroom. Dozens of schools will receive $246,500 in funding from Tennessee Valley Authority's STEM Classroom Grant Program, impacting more than 16,000 students and educators.

Licensed child care providers have until Wednesday to apply for Alabama DHR's seventh round of child care grants. These grants will serve as quarterly bonuses for part- and full-time employees.

The grant will broaden the city's Male Mentorship Program, which teaches young boys how to succeed personally and professionally.
