Governor Kay Ivey's office said the one-time tax rebates for Alabama taxpayers induced in her 2023 budget will be on the way beginning December 1. The Alabama Department of Revenue will issue the rebates starting on that date.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has announced three major interstate construction projects, including the widening of Interstate 65 in Shelby County. Ivey announced the projects Thursday in Hoover. The largest project is the widening of I-65 from Alabaster to Calera. The project seeks to increase the width of the roadway from two lanes each way to three lanes each way.

A special tax rebate payment won't fill the pockets of Alabama residents until later this year. State lawmakers in May passed the rebate plan that calls for $150 rebates for single people and $300 for married couples. Some 1.9 million people in the state are expected to qualify for the one-time payments.
