Operation Kid Safe International Safety Event

A program in south Alabama is working to help keep kids safe. Alabama Public Radio Student reporter Tori Martinez has more on the effort…

80% of the crimes committed against children are by people they know or think they know. Operation Kid Safe International is working to produce safety bio-documents for parents to use in case their children go missing. Bio-document includes a photo and finger prints of the child. Mark Bott is the Founder of Operation Kid Safe International. He says the documents help, but parents need to teach their kids how to be safe…

““The problem with most kids is their trained to be polite to people. So they are also polite to bad guys and you don’t need a five or six year old standing out on the curb negotiating for their own safety. They need to have really good tips on how to get away from that and who to go to and we provide all that.”

The free program will be available at Camping World in Robertsdale until Friday and will run from 10 AM until 6PM each day. Children one year and older and special needs adults are encouraged to attend.
