"Alice Magazine"

This story is an assignment from JN 325, taught by Dr. George Daniels and APR news director Pat Duggins. The students are coached by members of the APR news team.

Alice Magazine/Deven OCTOBER 2015 UA Student Produced Alice Magazine to represent College-Aged Girls If you love magazines like Vogue and Cosmo, you may want to grab an issue of the University of Alabama’s first student produced lifestyle magazine called Alice. APR’s Deven Feldstein has more on the magazine that promises to represent college aged women... Alice Magazine, is set to debut its premiere issue in early November. It will cover sections including fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and entertainment, like magazines out of New York City. The idea for Alice came after the editors felt there was a void in campus media. The campus is more than half women, but there was no publication directed specifically for girls. The magazine also has an all female editorial staff. EDITOR-IN-CHIEF ALLISON INGRAM SAYS they didn't purposefully set out to have all the editors be girls, but that’s just how things fell into place. However, she says it would be a welcomed perspective to have some guys on the masthead. “That would be something interesting to go into in the future. I'm sure plenty of guys have just as much interest in fashion and more insight to offer than even we just have.” INGRAM SAYS she hopes Alice will be a magazine every girl can relate too and that UA students will picture themselves as an “Alice” girl. “I hope that they receive Alice as their own voice embodied and that they can relate to it. That its not only advice they’ll wanna use but it’s stuff they can aspire to.” FOR APR NEWS, I’M DEVEN FELDSTEIN IN TUSCALOOSA.
