Alabama prison staffers have been charged with beating an inmate and then making false statements about it.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges against Department of Corrections Sgt. Devlon Williams and correctional officer Larry Managan Jr. on Wednesday.
Prosecutors said the assault occurred at Staton Correction Facility and that the staffers attacked the inmate by kicking him and hitting him with a collapsible baton.
