Alabama's Republican primary for governor features incumbent Robert Bentley taking on two poorly funded opponents. Two candidates are competing on the Democratic ticket.

Bentley raised more than $1,000 in campaign contributions for each $1 collected by former Morgan County Commissioner Stacy George and retired Scottsboro businessman Bob Starkey. Bentley campaigned on lowering Alabama's unemployment rate and bringing new industries to the state, including a copper tubing plant for one of the nation's poorest counties. Georgie set himself apart from Bentley by pushing for a state lottery and an expansion of Medicaid. Starkey did little campaigning.

The Democratic contest pits former U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith of Huntsville against Fayette businessman Kevin Bass. Both support a lottery and Medicaid expansion.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
