The wife of former University of Alabama president Guy Bailey has died.
A university statement says Jan Tillery-Bailey died Sunday night at a hospital in Birmingham.
The 63-year-old Tillery-Bailey had health problems for several years.
Tillery-Bailey was the wife of Guy Bailey, who was named president of the University of Alabama but resigned two months later last year citing his wife's illness.
The Texas native was a linguistics professor before retiring because of her health in 2008.
A funeral service is planned at Texas Tech University, where Guy Bailey served as president before taking the job at Alabama.
