Alabama's Lieutenant Governor Waits On Fundraising

ltgov.state.al.us

Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey is seeking re-election to a second term, but she did not report raising any campaign funds in the first month that candidates could receive donations.

State law allowed candidates for the 2014 elections to start raising money in early June. Those that did had to publicly report their contributions this week, but Ivey reported none.

Campaign spokesman Will Sellers said Ivey spent June focused on launching her re-election bid June 27. He said she has not started soliciting or receiving donations. But he said she expects to raise enough to have a robust campaign.

So far, she has no opposition. Ivey upset Democratic incumbent Jim Folsom Jr. in 2010 with a combination of raised funds and personal loans to her campaign.
