Alabama's Republican agriculture commissioner, John McMillan, is getting ready to kick off his re-election campaign.
McMillan said he will announce his candidacy for a second term Tuesday at a meeting of the Alabama Agribusiness Council in Gulf Shores. McMillan is returning to his home county of Baldwin for the announcement.
He represented Baldwin County in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1974 to 1980, when he became conservation commissioner in Gov. Fob James' first administration. Then he spent 20 years as executive director of the Alabama Forestry Association before returning to politics.
