The mayor of Montgomery has tested positive for COVID-19 and is quarantining.

Steven Reed announced on social media Saturday that he tested positive for the coronavirus after returning home from a business trip despite being fully vaccinated. He then posted on Sunday encouraging others to get tested, vaccinated and boosted.

Alabama's state school superintendent Eric Mackey announced Friday he had also tested positive. He said he is vaccinated and boosted and experiencing "cold-like symptoms."
