Former University of Alabama track star and Olympian Emmit King was identified as one of the two men killed during a shootout that occurred in Bessemer on Sunday. He was 60 years old.

King was on the American relay team for the Summer Olympics two different times, but did not compete. Police say he was arguing with the other victim, Willie Albert Wells, when the two both pulled out firearms and fired.

Wells was pronounced dead on the scene and King was taken to UAB, where he was pronounced dead 41 minutes later.
