Alabama's unemployment rate has fallen to 3.4%, a sharp decline from last May.
The Alabama Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington said that the economy is recovering from being affected by COVID-19 and that paycheck amounts are increasing.
The April rate was 3.6% while wage and salary employment has increased by 4,700. The lowest rate was in Shelby County at 1.8%, and Wilcox County had the highest rate at 8.8%.
