A major oil refinery in Mobile is being sold for $75 million.
Shell Oil Company announced it is selling the complex located at the northern end of Mobile Bay to Texas-based Vertex Energy.
The refinery is designed to produce 90,000 barrels of crude oil and other products daily.
The deal is part of Shell's plan to cut ties with refineries not aligned with trading hubs, chemical plants and marketing businesses.
The location will offer jobs to its current workers, and Vertex will purchase the hydrocarbon inventory once the sale is complete. The additional purchase could total the deal to $85 million.
