Alabama's Gulf Coast is getting help to recover from the coronavirus pandemic with federal money, just in time for beach season.
The Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration is providing the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau with $800,000 to fund a marketing program in hopes to boost business and reclaim tourists who couldn't visit during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Local funding of $200,000 will also go toward marketing strategies that include research into how best to advertise.
