The Opelika City Schools board is settling a lawsuit filed by a former teacher who claimed she was dismissed in retaliation for speaking out about the mistreatment of a special education student.

Board members agreed to end the suit filed by Meagan Norris, who taught at Jeter Primary School.

She reported in 2017 that she saw a physical education teacher use a barrier made of tape to separate special needs students from other children.
