Montgomery transit system updated after bus boycott anniversary

pbs.org

Montgomery announced plans to upgrade its public transit system just days after the 65th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

The city received a $65 million grant through federal coronavirus relief and will use it to buy 10 new buses, install new bus shelters, improve bus stations, launch an on-demand service and give hazard pay to workers.

Mayor Steven Reed said access to public transportation continues the fight to expand civil rights.
